2009 Lake Lanier Association Golf Tournament

In Memory of Jaime Baray

The Lake Lanier Association held its 7th Annual Golf Tournament on June 1.

This year’s golf tournament was dedicated to the memory of our board member, Jaime Baray, who passed away in September 2008.  Jaime organized all the association’s tournaments until his illness. Ninety six players participated in this year’s tournament, held on June 1 at PineIsle Golf Club at Lake Lanier Islands.  This represents an increase in participation over last year; however, many sign sponsors were unable to donate to the event this year.

The winning men’s foursome was David King, James Arnold, Alex Roberts and David Trotter, and the winning ladies were Andi McCarthy, Betty Ann Straub, Ann Case and Carol Brasher.

In addition to playing golf by the lake on a beautiful day, the players enjoyed music from DJ John Curran, a boxed lunch and an appreciation barbeque at the end of the event.   The association thanks Port Royale Marina/Park Marine/Waterfront Lanier Harbor Marina for providing a Bayliner runabout as the Hole in One prize.

After the event, the players and volunteers enjoyed a barbeque at the PineIsle pavilion overlooking the lake.  Participants had a chance to win great raffle prizes including a stay at Legacy Lodge and entrance to facilities at Lake Lanier Islands, golf foursomes at Affiniti Golf Clubs, a variety of prizes donated by Empire Distributors, gift certificates to local restaurants and artwork by lake artist, Anne Brodie Hill.

The association thanks all who played in the tournament and the staff at PineIsle Golf Club for their great cooperation and support.  A special thank  you goes to our member volunteers who helped at different holes: Bill Tannahill and Rich Little, Anne and Bob Hill, Jim and Carolyn Peacock and Mickey Craddock. The event would not be possible without the complete support of our board of directors who either played, signed up sponsors and players, and volunteered at the event.
