Prior to yesterday’s congressional meeting on the tri-states water litigation, we sent the email below to both Congressman Deal and Congressman Lewis with copies to Senator Chambliss’ and Senator Isakson’s office. We have also requested a meeting with the congressmen to discuss the importance of recreation in any re-authorization of Lake Lanier’s purposes.

Shane Watson Guide Service Report (10-20-09). Since my last report, we’ve seen great topwater at times with big schools of stripers on the surface and the numbers of fish we’ve caught on a Sebile and on freelines have been very good when they have been up. All the Shore Sweep dumpsters are finally picked up, and we are pleased to announce that the 500-600 volunteers who braved the rain on Saturday, September 19, collected 28 tons of trash from Lake Lanier.
Volunteers in Dawson County collected 9 tons of trash, and they began their efforts of locating and transporting the debris and foam two weeks before Shore Sweep.
