Mini Shore Sweep

This year the Lake Lanier Association (LLA) is planning two Shore Sweep events!  In preparation for the anniversary of 50 Years on Lake Lanier and the celebrations, the association will hold a mini Shore Sweep on April 28, at four locations around the lake.

The Lake Lanier Association held a Mini Shore Sweep on April 28, 2007 at five locations around Lake Lanier as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Lake Lanier.

The association thanks all the volunteers who participated and hopes to have the final weight of collected trash soon.  Volunteers at this event may attend the volunteer appreciation party on September 29 at Lanier Park.  Please wear either your Shore Sweep T-shirt or patch for entry.

The event took place from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., and volunteers picked up trash bags to collect trash from the shoreline at five locations on the lake;   Sawnee Campground on Buford Dam Road, Gainesville Marina, Port Royal Marina, Nix Bridge Park and Lake Lanier Islands.   Trash and Styrofoam was taken to all locations except Lake Lanier Islands where volunteers entered at no charge through the main gate to collect trash.
