A message from Lake Lanier Association Member and Lake Lanier Fishing Guide, Shane Watson

Please don't remove the tires from Lake Lanier. These tires were put in the lake years ago as fish attractors and fish habitat. They were not discarded as trash and thrown in the lake. They don't harm or pollute the lake in any way. They provide cover and structure for small and large fish. Years ago, people were encouraged by the government to put fish attractors such as tires in lakes. This practice still takes place today with synthetic and natural brush piles. I know the tires are unsightly while the lake is low, but please leave them alone as many fish will call them home when the lake fills back up.
