All the Shore Sweep dumpsters are finally picked up, and we are pleased to announce that the 500-600 volunteers who braved the rain on Saturday, September 19, collected 28 tons of trash from Lake Lanier.
Volunteers in Dawson County collected 9 tons of trash, and they began their efforts of locating and transporting the debris and foam two weeks before Shore Sweep.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., and volunteers may pick up bags to collect trash from the shoreline at one of the designated sites on the lake, as listed below. Mark your calendar for the Lake Lanier Association’s 21st Annual Shore Sweep on Saturday, September 19 beginning at 8 a.m.
Participating sites at marinas and parks are on the attached Lake Lanier Shore Sweep flyer. Volunteers can go to those parks between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on September 19 to pick up trash bags from the site volunteers.

The Lake Lanier Association invites children 12 and under to enter an original drawing in its third Shore Sweep T-shirt design contest.
The Shore Sweep committee is looking for an original design which, if selected, will appear on hundreds of t-shirts awarded to the volunteers at Shore Sweep on September 19, 2009.

Lake Lanier Association’s Shore Sweep

Lake Lanier Association’s Shore Super Sweep – Keep on Sweeping!
All dumpsters on Corps parks and at Gainesville Marina were removed by April 15. This has marked the end of the Shore Super Sweep for right now.
