The Shore Sweep 30 Year Anniversary Celebration event last weekend was a huge success and a great way to kick off Shore Sweep 2018! Thank you to the 400 people that attended and to the several hundred people that signed up to help at Shore Sweep 2018 coming up on Saturday, September 15th.
Advance drop sites will open this weekend, 9/1.
Since this is a holiday weekend, please use extra care when transporting trash to one of the advance drop sites during a busy time on the lake. Also, with higher water levels, please be sure to secure trash to the shoreline at the advance drop sites. Advance scouting will begin soon. Look for another communication from us soon with the signup for the advance scouting routes.
Most of the other Shore Sweep details are the same as previous years with one big exception: Lanier Olympic Park will NOT be a participating location on September 15th as they will be hosting an international event that day.
Just as a reminder/clarification: Shore Sweep is a service our volunteers provide for the lake community. Volunteers collect lake trash and debris to LLA and we will handle removal. HOWEVER, we are not an “on-call” service to pick up trash at your site. We encourage lake enthusiasts to work with their friends and neighbors in coordinating moving trash close to personal residences to our designated removal locations and we will handle it from there.
