SUMMARY:Sweep the Hooch- Lake Lanier Olympic Venue
DESCRIPTION:LLA has teamed up with the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue and Chattahoochee Riverkeeper to cohost a cleanup site as part of Sweep the Hooch. LLA will be leading the ‘motorized boat’ cleanup effort for the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue location. This location is a part of Shore Sweep every year\, but because it is located so far north\, volunteers gather a lot of trash but there are never enough to do a true Shore Sweep. That is why we choose to focus on this location during the Spring and we need your help. If you can not join us at the Olympic venue check out the other locations around the lake. There are lots of opportunities for walkers\, paddlers and boaters.\n\nVolunteer Opportunities:\n\nRegister to cleanup on March 27th. T-shirts are limited to the first 25 registrants. If you will be in a boat\, select paddler and use the other option. See the link below.\nWe want to organize the effort and need to scout out the trashiest locations. This is where we need some additional help. Do you have a boat that is not winterized and live near or are willing to travel to the Olympic Venue? Are you willing to schedule a time to take a couple people on a tour of the area and shoreline? Or\nDo you have a jet ski and are willing to scout on your own and send pin drops and photos? If you answered yes to either of these options\, please email your availability in mid-march to lakeinfo@lakelanier.org.\n\n\nSweep the Hooch is an annual watershed-wide trash cleanup organized by the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper that brings together hundreds of volunteers each year at dozens of parks\, tributaries\, and access points along the Chattahoochee River. Sweep the Hooch sites can be found from Helen down to West Point Lake and beyond. All Sweep the Hooch sites will follow CDC guidelines on physical distancing\, meaning volunteers will be asked to maintain the 6 ft. recommended distance from others. Masks will be required for motorized boats during trash drop off and check in.\n\nIf you have questions regarding registration for our site\, please email lakeinfo@lakelanier.org or call the office at 770-503-7757.
