SUMMARY:Women on Water Class
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nMarineMax’s exclusive Women on Water (WOW) courses are designed to get women behind the helm and enjoying the boating lifestyle. The classes are offered at many of our locations throughout the country\, and are taught by U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains who have been certified by MarineMax to conduct the lessons. \nThese small group seminars\, for women only\, are designed to build confidence by presenting information in an active\, fun\, and supportive environment. Each class is split in two parts: a classroom session and a practical\, on-water session. The laid back approach we take to educating female boaters helps to build confidence that they can be the captain of their own ship – no matter how large or small their boat may be. \nRegistration is required! REGISTER HERE

Space is limited by site for volunteer-walkers.\nVolunteer-Boat: Lake based volunteer using private vessel (kayak\, jet ski\, power boat) to find and remove trash to dumpster sites. We need vessels of all types and sizes for this cleanup! Volunteers helping via a vessel are critical to the cleanup. Boaters may begin picking up trash before check in\, bringing the trash with them to the dumpster site between 8am-1pm. T-shirts are not guaranteed\, they will be distributed on a first-come\, first-serve basis.\nFind the location nearest to you: View the Site Map.\n\n\nReady to Register?\n\n\nIndividual Registration to be completed by all participants. SUMMARY:Sweep the Hooch 2026
DESCRIPTION:LLA has once again teamed up with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper to co-host a cleanup site with our friends at the Gwinnett Dept of Water Resources as part of Sweep the Hooch 2026! Join us at Buford Dam on March 21st to help clean up our beloved Lake Lanier. This site involves moderate to strenuous hiking while removing trash along the shoreline and lake boulders.  \n\nLLA Site: Lower Overlook Park\nAddress: 1060 Buford Dam Road; Buford\, GA 30515\nDate: Saturday\, March 21st \nTime: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.\nRegistration is required! Capacity for this site is limited to 30 walkers – so sign up fast to secure your spot. \nAbout:\n\nSweep the Hooch is an annual watershed-wide trash cleanup that brings together hundreds of volunteers each year at dozens of parks\, tributaries\, and access points along the Chattahoochee River. \n\n\nVolunteers can chose to be walkers\, waders\, or paddlers. Note that each site has a limited amount of volunteer openings. Once a site reaches its capacity\, registration for that site will close – so we encourage you to register early. \nTypes of Volunteers: \n\nWALKERS are land-based volunteers who will pick up trash in and around the river or tributaries. Most often\, volunteers will get in some shallow water. At some sites\, walkers will specifically target invasive\, non-native vegetation (such as privet).\nWADERS are volunteers equipped with waders or wading boots and are stationed at select sites. These volunteers will collect trash from the shallow water areas\, and from areas on the river bank that are accessed most easily from the river and streamside trails. Volunteers must provide their own waders.\nPADDLERS will use kayaks\, canoes\, and stand-up paddleboards and travel between three and five miles per segment while picking up litter. These crafts are useful in collecting debris from portions of the river that cannot be accessed from the land side. Volunteers must provide their own kayaks\, canoes\, and/or SUPs. Boats are not available on-site.\n\nQuestions about volunteering? Contact tbates@chattahoochee.org. \n\n\nRegistration:\nRegistration for Sweep the Hooch is now open! During registration\, each volunteer will be required to sign the CRK Liability Waiver. This form will be authorized as an electronic signature during the registration process. \n\nPlease click here for more information!
