Boat Safety
We continue to encourage all boat operators to observe the 100 foot rule and take a boat operation course. Always encourage people near the water (on boats, docks, ramps and beaches, etc.) to wear a life jacket, especially children, and make sure you have all the proper safety equipment onboard (first aid kit, throwable floating device, rope, etc.) and know where it is. Quick action can save a life.
It’s also important to consider water temperature. The water temperature in the winter is cold enough for hypothermia to become a factor if you end up in the water.
