Lake Lanier Association Donates Life Jackets to Support Water Safety Program at Lake Lanier

BUFORD, Ga. — The Lake Lanier Association recently donated more than 150 life jackets to support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Life Jacket Loaner Program at Lake Lanier, helping expand access to lifesaving equipment for visitors enjoying the lake.

The donated life jackets will be distributed among life jacket loaner stations located throughout U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks on Lake Lanier. The program allows visitors to borrow a properly fitted life jacket at no cost and return it after use, helping promote safe recreation on the water.

The donation reflects the ongoing partnership between the Lake Lanier Association and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to encourage responsible recreation and reduce preventable water-related incidents.

“Partnerships like this play an important role in helping us promote water safety throughout Lake Lanier,” said Logan Walker, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger. “By working together, we can increase access to life jackets, reinforce safe boating practices, and help visitors make safety a priority every time they visit the lake.”

“The Lake Lanier Association is pleased to be working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to help keep our lake a safe place for visitors to enjoy,” said Dan Ohman, LLA Board Member and Program Coordinator.

Lake Lanier features life jacket loaner stations located throughout USACE-managed recreation areas, creating awareness that wearing life jackets saves lives, and providing visitors with access to life jackets for children and adults to borrow and return. In addition to stations maintained by USACE, the Lake Lanier Association supports additional loaner stations around the lake as part of its ongoing commitment to prioritize water safety for all lake visitors.

Visitors are encouraged to wear a properly fitted life jacket whenever participating in water activities. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, most boating-related drowning victims were not wearing a life jacket.
