As dozens of people at War Hill Park scoured shorelines and searched Lake Lanier’s waters for aquatic and land-based waste Saturday, similar efforts were taking place at regional sites all along the lake.

The Lake Lanier Association (LLA) nonprofit hosted its 37th annual Shore Sweep cleanup event on Sept. 20.

Over 1,000 volunteers had pre-registered for the event before Saturday. LLA had a goal of removing 100 tons of trash from the lake’s waters and shores, according to a previous press release.
