LETTER FROM TODD BAXTER, LLA PRESIDENT:

Dear Lake Lanier Association Members,

Spring in Georgia is here, the days are getting longer, and we can all feel it as we head into another busy “on water” season on Lake Lanier! Docks are being cleaned, boats are being uncovered, and families are already planning weekends by the water. It’s an exciting time of year, and it feels especially meaningful as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the LLA.

For sixty years, LLA has been the steady voice for the lake – advocating, protecting, cleaning, improving safety, and bringing this community together. That legacy belongs to you. As we plan to recognize and celebrate our 60th year, we renew our commitment to you and our lake community – working collaboratively to ensure Lake Lanier remains Clean, Full, and Safe for generations to come. And it shows up in every priority we’ve set for the year.

First, we are focused on strengthening our membership. A strong and growing membership gives us credibility, influence, and the resources to lead. This year our goal is to grow both personal and business memberships. More members mean a louder voice when it matters most. As we move into peak lake season – when everyone is reminded why this place is so special – we see a real opportunity to invite neighbors, friends, and local businesses to join the LLA. If you believe in what LLA stands for, we hope you’ll help us spread the word during this milestone year.

Advocacy remains at the heart of what we do. Many of you took the time to participate in the Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) survey, and we heard you clearly. The top concerns reflect issues that directly impact your enjoyment of the lake and your property, as well as shoreline safety. In 2026, we will continue proactive engagement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other key stakeholders to advocate for thoughtful, practical improvements. Our goal is simple: ensure member voices are heard and respected in decisions that shape the future of Lake Lanier. We will keep you informed along the way.

We’re also building on one of our most visible successes – shoreline protection. Project Armor demonstrated what’s possible when community support, great partners, strong planning and execution come together. This year, we will formally launch Armor 2, identifying additional priority areas and advancing the next phase of shoreline stabilization. Protecting the shoreline protects property, water quality, and the long-term health of the lake itself. It’s an investment that benefits everyone who enjoys these waters.

Of course, while we’re introducing new initiatives, our core programs continue to be the backbone of LLA. As we head into another busy season, safety and stewardship are top of mind. Shore Sweep will once again mobilize hundreds of volunteers to keep our lake clean. Our water testing program ensures we regularly monitor and share important data about lake conditions. Solar lights improve navigation and safety during low light periods. Our Abandoned Docks/Derelict Vessels (ADDV) program will help remove dangerous boats and docks from the lake. And we plan to expand our Life Jacket Loaner Stations across the lake to promote responsible recreation and help keep families safe.

This will also be a year of celebration. Throughout 2026, you’ll see our 60th anniversary woven into events, communications and programs. We’ll be sharing stories of impact, honoring those who helped build this organization, and highlighting the many ways LLA has made a difference over the decades. This will culminate on November 12th with our 60th Anniversary Gala and Fundraiser – a special evening to celebrate our history and invest in the future of our mission.

Importantly, every one of these priorities will be accomplished within our approved 2026 budget. Fiscal responsibility and transparency remain fundamental to how we operate. We take seriously the trust you place in us as members and supporters.

As we launch into this “on water” season, I encourage you to take a moment – maybe early in the morning, when the lake is calm and serene – to appreciate what makes this place so unique. Then remember that LLA exists to protect that experience for generations to come.

Thank you for your membership, your engagement, and your passion for Lake Lanier. Sixty years strong – and the best chapters are still ahead.

See you on the water!

Todd Baxter, LLA President

LLA Reveals Special Addition Logo ~ Celebrating 60 Years of the Lake Lanier Association

60th anniversary sealAs highlighted in Todd’s message, 2026 marks a major milestone for the Lake Lanier Association, our 60th anniversary. As we reflect on six decades of advocacy, stewardship, and community partnership, we’re excited to unveil our commemorative anniversary logo! The new logo builds on our current design, incorporating special celebratory elements while maintaining the integrity of the LLA brand. It is an addition, not a replacement for our primary logo. The anniversary design reflects the water we cherish, along with the trees and mountain views we enjoy all year long.

Created to honor LLA’s legacy of advocacy, stewardship, and community partnership on Lake Lanier, the 60th Anniversary logo is a limited-edition brand asset that will be used exclusively throughout the 2026 calendar year. The design proudly highlights our founding year, 1966, and celebrates 60 years of dedicated work to protect and preserve Lake Lanier. Most importantly, it serves as a reminder that safeguarding the lake we love requires the collective effort of the entire Lake Lanier community and beyond.

Be sure to save the date for LLA’s first-ever gala, celebrating 60 years of protecting and preserving Lake Lanier! You are invited to join us on November 12th, 2026 for an evening dedicated to celebrating our history and investing in the future of the Lake Lanier Association.
